Telling the story of Moto GP

20 . Nov . 2015

If you are a MOTO GP fan or if you only have seen some pictures of Valentino Rossi, you probably know photographer Gigi Soldano. Gigi is the man behind the lens of many bike brands, producing spectacular motorsport images for advertising, exhibitions and books.

A few weeks ago I went to Phillip Island – Australia for the sixteenth stage of the MOTO GP 2015, and I was lucky enough to meet Gigi on the day of his birthday. At 67 he is a true legend among motor sports photographers and I could not miss the occasion for a chat and to take his portrait! I also managed to capture Marc Marquez winning his 50th GP in Phillip Island.

I am deeply impressed by the photojournalistic approach that Gigi uses to tell the riders stories. The way he combines portraits and action shots to communicate the story and the emotions are truly unique.

UPDATE: At the end of November 2017 I’ve been approached by Superbike magazine, a motorbike magazine based in Hungary. The magazine was about to publish an interview with Gigi and they would have liked to use my portrait of the Italian photographer. I was stoked to have my photo in Gigi Soldano’s interview!
